As new Sprinter owners (2020 Crew 170 4x4) I want to report on some guys that helped me with a "modular" conversion that deserve mention. Folks in our situation know how many shops want our business, how many of the good ones are extremely busy and expensive, and how hard it is to choose a good shop. First, a modular conversion is another way of saying minimal systems that can be removed when we need a utility vehicle for our business. We understand mobile systems as we were marine liveaboards for 20 years. Most of our boat projects were DIY projects. This time around we decide to hire out some parts of the work on the new van.

TrailKitchens. Hans, the owner, built the wheel well cabinets that extend 32x75x11 on each side, Also the bed platform that spans the cabinets. We now have a luxurious 60x80 queen berth. Nice workmanship. Delivered to the installer on time. Hans is in Truckee, CA a gorgeous little town in the Sierras.

Sierra Adventure Vans. Mike, the owner, was the installer and his shop is a mile from Hans, in Truckee. No packing or shipping was involved. Mike set aside the time several weeks in advance and awaited our scheduled arrival from Eugene, OR. He was right on time and got it done on time. Excellent work.

Foam Factory. An online foam vender who shipped a 6 inch piece of foam with a 2 inch memory foam topper at half the price of a local foam store.

Logistics. Everything had to be in Truckee over a 2 day period. Plus. we needed rental car, AirBnB, and meals during the time the van was worked on. Easy to do during off season in a ski town. We toured Lake Tahoe and ate our way (fantastic BarBQ) through downtown Truckee. We had a mini vacation while the work was being done.

What a fun way to get some work done on our van. We are very pleased with the work and took a couple of extra days driving home to organize the new cabinets and and enjoy the new bunk. Just wish these guys worked on boats...
