T1N Sprinter Engine Type

I have a 2006 lwb 911cdi sprinter. How do I find out the engine type? It is a U.K. model 4 cylinders.

There should be a tag on the engine. Mine (an OM612) is on the black ABS cover on the top of the engine.

A 911CDi or a 311CDi? The first digit is the nominal weight in Tonnes so a 9xx would be 9 Tonne vehicle!

My mistake just a typo. It’s a 311cdi.

Just to make sure attached are some photos of my engine. Please confirm if it is an om611. The data from the vin checker looks as though it supports this.

Yep, that is an OM611, 981 variant.

So when organising a new engine ask for an OM611/981?

I believe that should be sufficient to identify over and above vehicle model and year.
