Road Blocks to Purchasing

Coach House builds an excellent RV, but for me at least I will never be able to order a new unit because of their down payment policies. Let me explain. I called and was told that I needed to put a deposit down which amounted to over $30,000 with a delivery date of well over a year. Besides losing interest on that money, my deposit was not going to be put into an escrow account. The sales professional tried to assure me that the company was solid and no one had ever lost any money. I explained that while this may be true there are never any guarantees in life and a business is susceptible to any number of setbacks or even failure, including those beyond their control. This is why large deposits, such as on a home, are put in an escrow account. She said that the down payment amount was negotiable, but my offer of $100 was too low.

I actually lost good amount of money, when I put deposit for steel house frame at Tri Steel in TX.
The company was playing delivery for over a year, than downsized to single person office, where nobody would answer the door.
I register with local detective who was investigating the procedure, but in USA it is not a crime to take somebody's money and close the business.
The sale person who was handling my sale was registered lawyer.
Asking for $30,000 deposit does sound like Ponzi scheme. All legal in USA.
