What do you deem reliable? Are you on top of all maintenance or no? Do you make short or long trips with the van? This would play into the reliability of any Diesel engine.Do you think 2021 Mercedes sprinter 2500 with 4 cylinder Diesel engine are reliable ?
That's on my bucket list as well, but so far fuel for DEF-equipped vehicles is questionable on the route.I am taking a trip from Alaska to Argentina

Yes they are reliable. The OM651 2.1L 4-cylinder diesel engine is the most widely used engine on Sprinters globally. Glad they are now available again in USA. Plan to order one myself soon.Do you think 2021 Mercedes sprinter 2500 with 4 cylinder Diesel engine are reliable ?
I think if you maintain the engine properly and do the services on time, you will be more successful with a diesel truck for long distance. That's on my bucket list as well, but so far fuel for DEF-equipped vehicles is questionable on the route.
Gas engine seems to be easier choice.

This is what I’m afraid of also… without sinking into yet another political thread, this is caused politics and this administration not knowing anything on how to run a government and then stand back and let people live and the economy grow. Liberals think they know how every aspect of our lives should be lived and they’re going to tax the mess out of us until we have nothing else to give all in the guides of their quest for the greater good. The greater good in other countries made them all fail in a short amount of time. Ships waiting to dock at California is just a hint of what socialism can do to a once prosperous nation very quickly.I loved mine for the first 45 days of ownership until a NOX sensor on the upstream failed 8 days ago. NOW it is sitting at Dealer unable to be driven with NO Estimated Repair date due to Global Shortage of NOX sensors. NO eta on part NO eta on repair (online search shows others waiting months) but Mercedes is still shipping vans with all the NOX Sensors to new consumers to purchase so ...... beware if you buy one and have a simple warranty repair failure your brand new van may become unusable with no repair date or concern from Mercedes or Dealers. Mercedes USA offers no solution either simply takes the claim and files it away. My 2011 I sold to buy this new 2021 was perfect for 11 years.... Parts supply issues is going to be the demise of a lot of business if this keeps up. 3 weeks until I file a Buy Back! Lemon Law case.
Don't assume other car manufacturers are better. I was thinking Mercedes service is bad in some aspect after owning 5 plus sprinters and bought a transit, lolI loved mine for the first 45 days of ownership until a NOX sensor on the upstream failed 8 days ago.
