More likely for keeping rats /mice from crawling up to chew on wiring or hoses?

PS:
That van needs to have some Cerakote Trim Coat applied to the front bumper.

Oh maybe. I didn’t even know that was something people did. I saw those on at night when I was walking around the campground. Realized in the morning they were solar lights. Assumed they were rock lights.

Debatable how well motion lights or even if on all nite lights work reliably as a rodent deterrent.
They do the opposite for insects, more like a magnet, unless red light which most insects don’t see.
Red light reportedly has no effect deterring rodents.

I passing thru AZ on I40 last February. Pacheco Peak campground. Every rig, van and truck had hoods up and LED lighting their engine compartments.

I have the string of LED lights powered by 2x AA batteries under the hood after the engine compartment cools down.
They are always on throughout the night 'til I turn it off again the next morning.

My LED ceiling lights have the built-in red light mode, I think it helps to keep the bugs away.

Rodents are highly adaptable. While they may initially avoid light, or scurry off from motion lights, they are known to “get used to it” relatively quickly. Probably after noticing nothing else happens.

Maybe better than nothing, but adding something else they don’t like or an irritant such as capsicum might be better.

I got back in to Yucca Valley CA Saturday afternoon around 5pm and coming westbound the other way I see a Ram pulling a white 170 on a gooseneck trailer on Hwy62 ... We see goosenecks delivering Sprinter vans to the LA area on Hwy10 outside PalmSprings pretty regularly, so my first thought is why is he up here ?

Then as I'm about to pass him I see it : big black flame marks up both A pillars and onto the roof from both front doors - the rest of the exterior looks completely undamaged. Occupants must have exited hurriedly, leaving both doors open while the fire was doing its thing

Today I'm at the liquor store buying ice, and when the cashier comes outside to unlock the ice chest he sees my van and starts telling me about one that caught fire right by his store the day before - turns out it's the same one that I saw being trailered out.

Liquor store cashier says something to do with the battery - he doesn't know all the details ...

Be safe out there ya'll with your house banks !

Sorry no pics to share
If you're on here - bummer man, hope no one got hurt ...
