I have had long term no starter crank on my 06. Had it towed to a Mercedes dealer and the tec said the ignition switch was shorted. The tech did make voltage tests with a meter at the ignition switch. He banged on it and it started. Instead of having them replace the entire ignition switch for $1,500, I took it to an independent shop and just had the electric switch replaced for $100.
At the moment I am not confident that the ignition switch is the problem, however, it has been starting without failing for several weeks.
I would like to know the purpose of circuit wire " A " that places 12 volts on the ECM socket pin when the key is held in the start position. What is the purpose of that 12-volt signal and how does the ECM make use of it? I understand the other aspects of the circuit drawing.
I will make another post regarding all the details about this long-standing starter no crank
