5114 ESP [CAB] control unit (A2) faulty - 2006 Dodge Sprinter 2500

I have spent some time on the forum and can't find anything about the exact problem I'm having... 2006 Dodge Sprinter with 205k miles

When pressing the gas pedal from a complete stop, the triangle traction control light flickers and the van will not accelerate until it starts rolling... then I can drive off with no problems. If the van is flat or on a slight downhill, I let it roll a little before pressing the gas and have no issues. I have stopped at a slight uphill and managed to get it rolling with little to no acceleration while the triangle light flickers before driving off. I haven't come to a complete stop on a steep uphill for fear of what might happen. Does anyone know what will happen?

My mechanic found the code 5114 ESP (CAB) control unit (A2) faulty and he says the only remedy he knows of is replacing the ESP control unit PN 002-540-4945. I can't find this exact part number on ebay and to get it from Mercedes is around $2,000.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I'm looking to try some DIY remedies before diving deep into finding the right part and paying for the labor to replace it.

Part number isn’t important, need the same wheel base and 2500 or 3500 depending on what you have. Make sure it’s not a generic code reader he’s using sounds more like a bad wheel speed sensor or misaligned to me

The mechanic is using a proper mercedes code reader - he's a mercedes specialist. I do have a pull to the right when driving and have to keep the steering wheel turned slightly left to go straight.

I'm not sure - I just asked the mechanic. But, there were no codes related to the wheel speed sensors.
I don't believe there will be any codes for the wheel speed sensors unless the wiring is damaged but a false reading sensor could give the problem you are experiencing.

Ask your mechanic to look at the Live Data for wheel speeds whilst stationary and then accelerating from a stop.

If the Sprinter thinks it is not accelerating in a straight line it MAY activate the ASR and try and brake one wheel and possibly cut engine power to correct the error.

You need to get the tracking corrected and the steering wheel centred then recalibrate the steering angle sensor.

A constant pull in any direction will kick the 3 amigo brake lights on. If your working with a specialist I'm sure he realizes it. I cant look up C codes by number in my repair software with sprinters (Annoying) if it has a cab internal failure code I'm sure its bad. Please refer to my initial post to find a replacement module or try calling module repair pro in Van Nuys Ca Ask for Gino tell him Jason sent you
