I don't believe, I know it from experience. There is no difference in performance or fuel economy, or smoothness from an engine that has the injectors coded to an engine that has not... I personally owned and drove a 2006 Dodge Sprinter for 4 years (478k) in expediting and courier service, there is no difference in any performance between an engine with coded injectors vs an engine with them not. Maybe the one that believes is you...So the service documentation, and the factory level scanners are all wrong? Have you reviewed the injection class tolerance range? Its plus or minus 15%. That can make a significant difference in operation.
So in conclusion. You believe it isn't required. And I am sure the engine will run. But smooth idle and good fuel economy matter to most people.
