"Hymer USA to adopt European motorhome manufacturing practices"

The American RV manufacturing group, Thor Industries, which owns Europe’s Erwin Hymer Group, has created a new company called Hymer USA.

The new company will make motorhomes and campervans for the US market based on European manufacturing practices, automation and quality standards. This is the first time European manufacturing practices have been used in an American motorhome and campervan factory.

The announcement follows Thor’s 2019 acquisition of the German Erwin Hymer Group (EHG).

“Delivering to the North American market the innovation, design and quality for which the Hymer brand is known will benefit consumers and dealers, further enhance Thor’s leadership position within the market and will provide strong long-term value to our investors,” said Bob Martin, president and CEO of Thor Industries.

Ewin Hymer Group CEO, Martin Brandt, adds: “We see also great potential for our European vehicles on the North American market, especially in the product category of multifunctional vehicles. In addition, Thor as well as dealers and customers appreciate our European expertise in quality, innovation, design and lightweight construction.”

Employees from several of Erwin Hymer Group's plants in Europe have, or will, relocate to America for two years to “allow Hymer USA to replicate its proven manufacturing process”.
