Currently full time in the van
In November 2019, my new wife and I bought a 2006 Sprinter. 158" 3500, because we don't want to worry about weight capacity and I would like to tow/carry a motorcycle
We have been scheming up a way to live in a van–full time–since highschool. We both used to drop hints in highschool. Then we dated in college and actually discussed it. Now out of college, we're married and own a Sprinter!
I'm a designer and animator and am transitioning (slowly, because I love my current job) toward a more freelance lifestyle. She is also searching for some type of mobile/on-the-road employment.
Our target leave date is early 2021, so we've got some leeway. In that time, I've been really enjoying learning about T1N's (I've been doing a TON of reading the past few months) and the ins and outs of the cooling system, ABS/tone ring dash light woes, brake switches, idler pulleys and all that fun stuff. I enjoy design but also working with my hands, and I think I'll get a lot of that with this rig
She won't see any of the maintenance side, but I plan on doing as much of it as I can. I have no interest in a poorly outfitted van, or an unreliable one. That said, I'm also not afraid to get my hands dirty, and I'm someone who loves to have something to work on. Our Sprint' only has 103k on it, minimal rust, and overall good condition. We're excited to have lots of adventures in it!
So that's us. We're proud and excited Sprinter owners.
