That looks fine to me. Anti-seize works, but I don't think it lasts as long.
That D2 reminded of the old Chevy 269 V8 block which I had installed in 88 S10, small block but plenty of room under the Disco hod . Hope the heads are straight for his sake .Well old habits die hard.
I was taught back in the 1960's to apply a smear of regular grease to the nozzle step then sit the seal washer with the cone face pointing down.
When seated and torqued down, the washer will deform to the seat and the grease will carbon up and seal the other side .
So here we are 60 odd years later, and countless injectors installed without a problem. The old RN based instruction must be regards as gospel.
All best

BTW with that D2 engine head gasket.
DO make sure you fill the engine upon rebuild otherwise you will risk overheating and continued gasket failure because the thermostat is on the return side not like your Sprinter engine. The top hose goes to the centre thermostat port! That's a must !

Well if they are warped by more than 0,003 " they need resurfacing! That D2 reminded of the old Chevy 269 V8 block which I had installed in 88 S10, small block but plenty of room under the Disco hod . Hope the heads are straight for his sake .
Will be installing 180° Tstat since we are in the warm belt vs the 190° OEM , you right about where the Stat which is not something g I favorite but that’s how an English man engineer things
To fill mean to pre fill the block w coolant rather than relay on the normal heating cycle correct ?
uhaaa , good tip . I am sure they are warped, we sent them out to get the proper work , valve guides, valve seal ..etc . Its a Super fun off road machine .Well if they are warped by more than 0,003 " they need resurfacing!
The engine is originally a Buick 216.
The remote T/stat was set at 190" on D2's because (BMW the owners of Landrover) had to make the engine conform with enhanced NA emissions regs especially in open loop control during cold start run ups..
This was a short term stop gap measure because in 2004 the D2 with that Buick based engine was phased out. It also went to Dex Cool as a coolant antifreeze.
For initial filling remove the top hose off the manifold port and fill through the expansion tank until coolant runs out of the engine.
Stop the open port with a shop rag, then quickly fill the open top hose to the t/stat. Then connect without losing too much fluid.
It will self purge or burp.

So i started the bus to get the head some what warm, Injector #3 is like shooting air mist up ( i believe that is the bad one ) It like a steam train all the compression blown by the injector SeatYou've explained more in those six sentences above than any thread i've read here on the subject (injector removal). Absolutely brilliant, cheers mate.Well that's good.
Once you have cleaned all the coke from the injector hold downs , run it up and get it hot.
Unscrew each injector hold down bolt in turn a half turn to a full turn (180 to 360) while running hot.
Allow the engine to huff 'n chuff loosening off the injectors in the head.
Again spray the carb cleaner around the injector body (engine stopped )allowing it to penetrate then repeat the loosening off technique until each injector is bouncing up 'n down like sugar plum fairy.
Take into account that the expulsion of gases is eye watering so some goggles helps.
Then while still hot rip out the injectors keeping them in order of removal.

I would caveat this sentence. Sometimes, an emergency will necessitate.Needless to mention it, but only use new bolts every time. Don't re-use a bolt in any circumstance.

Well its like putting your head in the lions' mouth analogy .

If you can't find them at a used place, that's also a part you can still buy from the dealer and its not terribly expensive. I wanna say I paid about $60 4 years ago from my Dodge Dealer. Mine was an OM647 cover though. Not sure if they're different or if that affects the availability. Save your engine cover data sticker. I forgot to before pitching mine in the trash and the new cover will not come with one.Any idea where to get the right VC for it . I ordered one from IDparts Vand its the wrong one
I haven't used that tool and don't completely understand how it fits around the GP. I have encountered a few ceased GPs where the tips were carbonized and they needed to be extracted. I used this tool but had to manufacture an additional sleeve which would fit around it as the tool was designed to fit against a bore flush with the head, not a recessed bore as on the 647 (i would also assume 612) heads. Here's a video on how the Leroy tool works to get an idea on how it fits around a GP.Any one used this tool to remove the GP , it made exclusively for the CDI 612,647
