Looking for Recommendations for Placing a Reliable 4x4 Order

I've been thinking about buying Sprinter van for some time and now finally willing to pull the trigger and proceed. However, reading about the wait times and dealers that will tell you anything and then simply hope they can get you one is discouraging to say the least.

I understand that at present there will be a (perhaps significant) wait and I'm ok with that (to a point at least). My problem is how can I find a dealer that knows what he's doing and is honest; one that has a reasonable chance of getting a timely allocation and won't string you along hoping something turns up. I'm willing to travel to pick up the van. Can anyone recommend a reasonable way to filter through all the dealers and select one that can perform reliably?

Where are you?

I am happy with the honesty of my dealer. Lynwood MB, Lynwood, WA Contact Lance Frigard at 425-275-5750. He is the Commercial Vehicle Manager

He didn't sugar coat anything. Told me I was #2 on his 4x4 list (a while ago) and called as soon as his first allocation came in because the #1 guy wasn't ready. Worked hard with MB to get the options I wanted. I got everything except LED's. He won't commit to when I will get it, because he says he doesn't know, but he always responds to my emails about the production status promptly.

The Sprinter was ordered at retail price, no discount, no surcharge.

Thanks for the responses. I live in Central Oregon so the dealers in the SE, although not unthinkable, are pushing my limits. The Lynnwood dealer is only 6 hours away so I will contact them first. Thanks.

I’d suspect that the dealers in the NW don’t have any vans.....4x4 sprinters are really trendy in the NW. maybe not so much in Florida, Georgia and Tennessee.

I’d add to the list
Plaza motors in St Louis and Kentucky dealer. I found Both my buddies found 4x4 vans there last fall, late in the game.

By all means take this for what you want

But do you realize how stupid that sounds?

I didnt drive to get my van. It was delivered, for 600.00 from alabama to florda, 6 hours away, for 600.00

I shipped two from kentucky to me.

Why do you need to go there?
This is 2019. Pick up the phone, make an order, give them a card for the deposit and buy your van. The reason you DONT have a van already is because of this mentality

I live in Orange County California and flying into Alabama to get a 4X4 to road trip back Route 66. It was either that or wait and continue to get misled and lied to by West Coast Dealerships. I wanted a 4X4 Sprinter so.....I'm getting a 4X4 Sprinter very soon!

I flew and drove for both my sprinters....about 1,000 miles each time.
No big deal and it’s a nice way to break in the van over many miles.
Free road trip and in 1,000 miles you acclimate to driving a sprinter.

I enjoy it.....transporters are too stressful for me.

Whole purpose of getting a Sprinter is theadventure. Right?
Agree with that.
Plus you get to sleep in your new van in the summer with no fan and no operable windows......it builds character.
I’ve checked a bag on the airplane with a sleeping bag and pad both vans...
Buy a Walmart cooler and good to go.

Hotel would be ok too.....I guess?

Thanks for advice. I hadn't realized delivery could be arranged. As I noted before travel and pickup is not out if the question either. Obviously a reputable dealer 6hrs from me would be preferable over cross country delivery or travel, but a reputable dealer is the key component....

We just had our 4x4 dropped off this morning. I searched all over the states and found one in Atlanta we are in Portland, trucking was $2200 in the covered transport. I'm not sure what you want but I did see a silver 4X4 in Medford last night ( it has a few more options then I was looking for) you may want to give them a shout.

There is an August build 170 4x4 slot available at MB of Mobile

This one is scheduled for August Production in Charleston. It is not changeable.
It's perfect for a nice conversion.

Questions? Call me. I can help.
