black insulation around climate controls/firewall

I would like to replace the engine bay insulation piece which covers the heater core/cabin filter area because it is falling apart. Does anyone know a part number/source? I could not find in the factory parts catalog for 2006. Thanks!

This is from the 05 parts, probably the same in the 06 but you can check here
http://diysprinter.co.uk/reference/06va-parts manual.pdf

I think that is Dodge but there is also an interchange PDF which works very well for converting dodge to MB part numbers.

All this info is here. http://diysprinter.co.uk/reference/ Pretty helpful page .

In the image it is part #32

It helps, reduce engine noise in cab, I find cab quieter when it is in place.

I was also looking for that piece of insulation. I was informed that it is no longer available.

This isn't what was asked.

The insulation on my 2004 cabin filter assembly is still basically intact. I keep it in place with some small bungee cords. That insulation was missing on my 2006 when I purchased it. I've not noticed any difference in HVAC performance between the two vans.

Except when in re-circulation mode (which times out after 10 minutes or so) the cabin filter is passing basically outside ambient temperature air.

Thanks for the image Patrick but the insulation I am referring to is not shown there. I'm looking for this one

If anyone knows the part number, I'm still interested even if it is "not available", because making something isn't going to look as clean as the real deal.

Then this?

The parts manual drawings are sloppy and vague, some of the worst parts diagrams I have ever seen. They look like someone kind of looked sideways at the parts and then sketched them from memory.

The blower motor insulation blanket is Mopar part number 05124760AA. I paid 22$ for it about a year ago. A online mopar/dodge parts place should be able to get you one. Just type in the part number. The insulation for the air filter section above engine is a different part, and I don't know the number.

You can also use Reflextic available from Lowes. Home Depot, etc. Also, you can use duct wrap available from an HVAC contractor.
