This woody perennial was suffering root disease (note the dark heartwood). It uprooted and was leaning 20° resting-against the tree seen on the right in the pic. If it continue falling over the uppermost 20ft would reach and damage the house (roof, gutter, Windows).
So I cut the trunk at a angle, it would stick in the ground and walked its woody structure allowing the tree to remain upright while shortening its structure 40ft.
