SOS had a used ECM in stock which they were able to program and get to me for a much cheaper cost than a brand new one from MB. So it starts, runs, and drives again.. Everything is great and I WAS happy.....
The installing shop (Rick & Ray’s Auto Plaza) received the ECM,EIS, & Key. Installed successfully and running. After receiving the vehicle back I was told the battery was getting low from the transport driver who delivered it to me, the transport truck driver also told me that the shop had to charge it to get it to start to put it on the transport truck - so I put the charger on it and left it alone for a little. Started fine after charging. Within 24 hours of that (only driven 5 miles and parked) its dead again. So I looked at the battery and I see that it’s from 2013 so I go ahead and replaced it with a slightly better battery with more CCA’s. After install, I attempt to start the engine and have the same no start, no crank, no click, no glow plug light on the dash once again – like it was before the new ECM.
The ECM has not been programmed by anyone other than SOS. I have only driven the Van to my house where it has been parked since.
I have also noticed as soon as I touch the negative cable to the battery there is a constant buzz coming from the EGR sensor, along with what sounds like it may be coming from the alternator. This is when the key is off and in my pocket. The buzz does not go away, it lasts until I would assume the battery is dead. If I unplug the sensor to the EGR then it stops and only buzz’s from the alternator.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated as this thing has been a complete nightmare. I would really like to fix it.
