Intermittent starting problem HELP?

Getting ready for trip on my 2011 Sprinter View and when I turn key, often nothing happens. Would normally think about bad starter solenoid but don't know where that is on Sprinter. If I continue to try sometimes once or twice and sometimes over a dozen and fiddle with parking brake and regular brake and anything else I can touch. Afraid I will get stranded if I don't figure out before trip? Sometimes starts on first key turn? Any thought please. No Sprinter dealer near me.

Can you define "nothing happens" a bit better? Do the dash lights run through their test? Does the engine crank but not start? Are there any clicks or whirrs or buzzes - either ones that you're used to hearing or ones that you've never heard before?

While your RV is stored between trips, do you keep a battery tender on it?

good questions: normal dash lights turn on and run as usual. New Sprinter battery before storage and yes battery tender on it and it shows full charge. If motor/starter turns over it starts immediately. Thought I might have heard a faint click under hood once or twice but can not duplicate. Very random, started it several times after it engages and hard to duplicate.

A starter "solenoid" is almost always *on* the starter.

The starting "relay" (which then energizes the solenoid) is located behind the kick-panel at the front of the driver's footwell.

Dick, where do I look for the energizer relay on the kick panel? Inside the cab? Where the battery is? Thanks for the suggestion

Here: (it's part of (or behind) the fuse panel)

It's probably one of the standing boxes shown, but which one i don't (currently) know.
Your owner's manual (or the label on the inside of the covering panel) may list them.

There are a least 10 other threads on "click no crank".

Early and often starter solenoid failure is common.
Poor connections at the ground and positive cables should be checked. Including the Y cable which connects the battery, alternator and starter.
General battery health is critical.
