Welcome Colin

I'm new here too and about to do the same as you by adding a LH window.
I found this http://piercehome.us/Sprinter/Side_Window.pdf

Just want to be sure I cut the sheet metal correctly, thinking of using a saber saw after applying duct tape to protect the painted surfaces.

Judging from the photos in that write-up, looks like I need to cut along the edge of the inside sheet metal that is spot welded to the outside sheet metal (see photo).
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong about where to cut.

Lots of info on this forum, I've been searching and reading everything for some time now as I fix up my 158 HRL.

Installed the LH middle window this weekend.
Cut the sheet metal as I marked on my photo above and it was a perfect fit.

Resurrecting this thread. . .

So for a factory window installation, you just cut where the metal is double thickness?

Yes,
If installing factory windows, cut where I drew the line in my photo.
I did it on my 05-158 this way and it was a perfect fit.
