MdO is such a neat place. During the summer you can start your ride in dense fog, barely able to see the next climb, and if you ride long enough you can forget all about that and curse the heat on the last climbs out of the canyon.

For his High School spring break, my grandson chose to take a bike trip with me. Eight days of riding in Phoenix and Sedona. For this trip I decided to get an e-bike to keep up with him.

Pics from McDowell Mountain Regional Park and Submarine Rock off of Broken Arrow Tr. in Sedona.

First thing we built was a slide out for our bikes 😁. It took us a year to fully build our rig then we went on a year long road trip from Alberta to Costa Rica.

Squamish was our first stop.

Honduras and Nicaragua don’t have much for mtb. We spent more time on the beach and surf the waves.

Costa Rica has great mountain biking but since it was rain season we didn’t get to ride as much and filming/pictures in the rain wasn’t that easy. We didn’t find some good rios to clean up after a ride and we also spent some quality time at the beach. I recommend to anyone to go on a trip like this. It’s eye opening 😁

Looks like you were in La Ventana (Baja). A favorite riding location for me. A bike crash and shoulder sprain keep me away this winter. Hope to be in Sedona in a few weeks though.

Ape canyon at Mt Saint Helens this past summer.

Yes! la ventana was fun! Definitely an early ride and used the Ebike not to get cooked.

Guatemala has some cool volcano trails, one of which was build by Gravity Logics. You can almost see it across the lake.😁

Thought I'd share this here since some of you may be similarly inclined.
I'm camping with a buddy at Red Rock Canyon campground May 14-17. You might be pleasantly surprised by the quality of the trails nearby. In addition to the beautiful road ride through the canyon, there are many, many really well cut MTB trails through the mesa and canyon lands.
I often visit my daughter in Summerlin, and that's how I became familiar with the local goods. I ended up putting a couple bikes in her place for when I fly in because there are so many options within minutes of her place.
Join us for a ride, a beer, or even camp. It shouldn't be unbearably hot yet at this point and we'll beat the Memorial Day crowds.
Here are some examples of what you'll be able to ride.

How did you handle the inconsistent availability of ULSD down there? Thanks for introducing us to a less common MTB destination.

Only stretch without ulsd is about 600km crossing Honduras & Nica. I put an S & B tank so I easily get 1000km on one tank. Once in Costa Rica all is fine since the van can handle LSd. I also cleaned the egr valve every 10000km by precaution.
