any recent good tire sales?

Any "special offers", internet coupons or limited time discounts anyone know of? Costco is no longer the place for cheaper tires.

I buy mine on Ebay, no sales tax, free shipping, but it is up to you to mount them or find a source for doing so.

Thanks for the tips.

I'm thinking more on the line of getting Michelins or other quality tires, but just checking for sales and cheapest source. My local Costco would be charging me about $1000 out the door. Evidently mounting/balancing/etc is no longer included in the price.

I didn't consider Ebay, I'll look at that. I think local tire shops would charge me about $20 per tire to mount/balance on the rim. My Holy Grail was missed last week, when someone posted on Craigslist a set of nearly new tires ON RIMS for $400. They didn't say what brand tires, but from what I could see they were LTX.

Check Tire Rack, www.tirerack.com . I've purchased many tires from them and shipping is generally from their NV warehouse for west coast orders. They have a list of installers online.

If you can find some LTX M/S used with the right date code and size (225/75R16), they will be replaced for free with M/S2 under a Michelin recall. The Michelin website has details.

Westlake is a Giant Chinese tire maker with low quality standards. I've seen a post crash investigative report online that showed the steel belts used inside were 1/4 the mfr stated size and were too weak for the tire weight rating. IMHO Fine for everyday empty use by those who cannot afford an expensive purchase, but not for commercial hauling, RV use etc.

I saw all kinds of strange brand names on Ebay. I also saw a new set of my beloved Toyo HT for $450, but they were manufactured in 2010 or something. I don't know the shelf life of tires.

I'm thinking there may be some Labor Day sales, so I'm going to peruse the flyers for the major tire dealers.

My Costco lists the Michelins for $760
Well worth it.
Mine are looking like the tread may go 100,000 miles
Strange since I only got 35000 on a VW

I got a new set of off brand tires locally for $560 at mr tire mounted and balanced. The only issue I see with buying tires online is in case of a failure it becomes a real hassle to get any warranty on it.

I found a used set for $180, I'll look up the date code and see if they are in the recall. I may get them anyway, because that's cheaper than a single tire, and they have 80% tread.

Mine has them for over $200 each and then about $35 each to install.

Yo Bill I'm heading down from Alaska to the East Bay in a couple weeks- I'm also runnin thin on rubber. Got the same size tires- but have been sailing on Mich XPS Ribs for waaaay too long.
They're hard, long-lasting, rough-riding tires. I too checked at a local Costco and replacements will run about $1000.
Let me know if you find any deals- I'll do the same!

I'm wondering if anyone can testify for their favorites?
Also thoughts appreciated on previously requested "freshness" expiration time, i.e. buying a set manufactured after 2010 etc.
