Hi I just got a sprinter for my office. It is a 2005 Dodge Sprinter 3500 with the merc diesel engine. I was wondering if you knew the types of fluids needed for maintaining the Sprinter correctly.

If you do a search in the T1N Talk and Write-Up section you will find some engine/tranmission oil specs in there. I don't know it off the top of my head, but it's searchable.

Download a free copy of your year's owner's manual from here:
http://www.dodge.com/owners/index.html

...all typical fluid requirements and complying sources (as of the writing) are in there...

Real world maintenance fill capacities I've experienced on my 2004 2.7 OM647 diesel.

Oil change with filter.
Put in 9 quarts only. After a couple days recheck hot (red handle dip stick) and top off as needed. Do not ever overfill.

NAG1 drain oil pan and torque converter w/ filter change.
8 quarts by measuring what was removed, as you should measure to check also. Recheck after a couple days and top off as needed.

Coolant drain and refill for a water pump replacement.
8 quarts. Recheck after a couple days and top off as needed.

If/when the Dodge website stops offering owners manuals for 2004-2008 (2009 is not available at this writing), you may download owners manuals in PDF from Sprinter-Source, too.

T1N manuals are in the T1N database area: https://sprinter-source.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6144
