Back again, and just a couple new notes.
1 - I followed the above OEM instructions to a T and that worked really well - no other steps performed, though I was never able to identify the bracket in step 10 - maybe my van doesn’t have it - so skipped. Yet another lesson in “RTFM” - or suffer. Only thing missing that was likely covered at a higher level is you need to drain off a few quarts of coolant and remove the reservoir.
2 - I kinda dreaded removing the EGR as usual, but it came right out - then I remembered I used Permatex Anti Seize Lubricant - the silver metallic looking stuff - last I had it out. EZPZ - no brainer - can’t believe a $0.0005 isn’t spent at the factory for a simple wipe of this stuff.
