Firstly, have i named this thingy correctly? And have i used enough of the correct “key words”?!

Photo of my broken one below

Could this be the reason my alarm has stopped arming when i lock the doors? It used to confirm arming with indicator lights flashing

Also, does anyone know the replacement part number?… can’t seem to find it for sale anywhere

The (broken) round button with screw is the dome lamp “door jamb” switch. It connects to the brown/white switched ground wire coming from the dome lamps. They were common to many vehicles and can often be salvaged from Mercedes vehicle from the era…

Are you certain you have the intrusion alarm, and not simply Remote Keyless Entry (RKE)? Running your VIN will list the installed options…

With RKE the system uses three blinks of the turn-signal lamps to indicate that all the doors have locked.
Each door lock mechanism has both a “ajar” and a “locked” switch, and these signal the Central Timer Module (the central locking controller), which then indicates the system status using the two arrows on the dash switch. The ”up” arrow indicates the status of the driver’s door; the “down” arrow indicates the status of all the other doors. A flashing lamp indicates that a door is ajar; a solid lamp indicates that the doors in the group are all locked.

If the dash switch doesn’t indicate properly, you probably have one or more wiring faults in the door latch switches. The wires can break away from the brass pins, or the pins and contact pads can become dirty (clean them periodically)

Thanks.

I have an alarm fitted by Merc when new. RKE works fine and all doors lock and unlock by remote and manually. Stopped getting flashes to confirm locking a year or two ago.

Will check if i have a flashing dash lamp / switch for door ajar when doors are open and report back.

The MB intrusion alarm circuit includes the rear window heating elements.
(it senses if they're broken).

Those require that the springy fingers in the jamb make good contact with each door's contact pads.

As @Nautamaran wrote: the thing in the photo is for operating the roof-top interior lighting.
I don't recall that it connects to the alarm circuitry.

The service manual (<-- link) covers some of this ... the wiring diagrams are in section 8W, i don't recall where the alarm itself is described (somewhere in section 8).

I can confirm my rear door ajar sensor is working. The door dash switch is flickering when door left open.
As people have said above the door ajar circuitry is clearly part of the 3 pronged unit not my broken singular (interior dome lights) button.
Thanks to ”V” for eurocarparts link. Although I am UK not US that helps with the correct key words to search with.
Precise Merc part data appears to be:
  • MERCEDES-BENZ SPRINTER 903 Door Contact Switch A0058208110
I found one on Ebay, apparently genuine, for £12.45 delivered. The one which “V” bought for $6.69 seems very good value.

IGNORE my last message it’s the wrong part!

The rear doors have a different light switch to the front and side doors…WHY didn't anyone tell me about my mistake?

VWTim’s part number above is 000 820 10 54 but I can’t find that one?

It’s tempting to drill an extra hole to horseshoe the side door switch I have in but it might get crushed when I close the rear door?

Couple photo’s to explain

US Parts catalogs for many T1N years can be found here: http://diysprinter.co.uk/reference/
For the switch(es) you want, any year (2002-2006) would suffice.
BUT
The part numbers in those catalogs are the (old) Dodge number, not MB.
To find *those* you need to look in the Chrysler-to-MB.pdf cross reference files which are in the same directory/folder.

It took quite a bit of digging to find that switch ... it's item #6 on figure 8-1125 (interior lighting, cargo van)
Dodge # 05103678AA which is MB # A 000 820 10 54
(in the 2006 catalog)

An MB dealer , given your VIN, probably could've gotten there quicker...

good luck

Thanks Mark I have purchased one from MTV (Midlands Truck & Van UK) via Ebay for £8.99 incl. P&P.

For those from around the world reading this please note “UK” and “£”

My experiences using MTV (UK) is they are better value than other sellers.
