MAF sensor

After taking my van to a doggy service centre my fuel economy and indicated range started to suffer. after start my range looks normal, after 30 mins my range starts to wonder by 100 – 200 kms. This happens after every start. Am I correct in my assumption that the range comes from the ECU calculated by the mass air flow sensor. I’m still getting 10-11 liters per 100Kms
My question is
Can the MAF sensor disrupt indicated range and cause this fluctuation?
Thanks in advance

I have no clue about where the range calculations come from in a MB, but would assume that a common-rail fuel injection system's ECU has a precise measurement of the atoms of fuel sent to each injector that would measure fuel use more accurately than the MAF.....

Did the dodgy service center replace your MAF?
Maybe the float in the tank is sticking....I think there is a float in the tank.

When software can be different between MY, on my MB, the range is based on instant consumption.
Meaning when I start cold engine, who uses more fuel, the range is shorter and it will get longer, once I start cruising the highway.
Same way when driving on uphill, it will shorten, when going downhill it will show more.

Short answer .... Yes
Now a little background.... I put in a new MAF from NAPA... but then later was finding that I was having Amb Air Temp Sensor fault........ changed the air sensor and still had the fault............ also the intake air sensor was faulting out....... and when the two would fault out I would lose power and lowered the mpg....... along with low boost....
After checking with shop that now does work on my Sprinter and great work at that.... I found the OEM MAF and installed that............ now on the scanguage 3 the amb air temp and intake air sensor no longer are showing faults .... there is a hill,,, or climbing a side of a mountain in South Central Alaska that is about 3 + miles... that the MAF will be 150 and Boost at 22 and she never miss a beat going up that hill or mountain side..

So buy the OEM MAF sensor.............!!!
