Where are the Dodges?

Who still has a good running Dodge Sprinter? 🙂

I believe the NCV3s were dated from 2007-2009.

The plan was that Dodge would be the "retail" outlet for T1N Sprinters (with Freightliner addressing the "commercial" crowd).
Both Marques were part of Daimler/Chrysler. (as was MB)

Daimler sold Chrysler to Cerberus (if i recall correctly) and they're now part of Stellantis.
When that sale happened, the Dodge Sprinter became somewhat of an orphan.
Dodge stopped selling them, bringing the Fiat Ducato to the US as the Ram ProMaster.

There were/are far more Dodge T1N Sprinters than Freightliner-badged.

With an '08 Freightliner that the PO re-badged as Mercedes, I often masquerade as a Dodge Sprinter for parts cross referencing. Since the Sprinter wasn't sold in the USA under the Mercedes brand until 2010, many parts are only listed as 2010 and up. Of course, there were also changes (especially to the engine and emissions system) between '08 and '10 as well, so it's not always obvious whether I'm looking at a data artifact or a true incompatability. Freightliner is completely absent as a brand option in some parts catalogs, leaving Dodge as the safest choice for confirming applicability to my van.

I use dodge parts info I found to self-source parts for my 08 FHLT. But it's a genuine hassle ID'ing the part from the dodge info and then trying to cross reference it over to the MB PN. I definitely get my money's worth out of google trying to figure it out. I recently found a cross-reference "book" online that goes back and forth between the two. Did Freightliner have their own set of PN's too? I won't even bother going to one of their dealerships for parts. I imagine that would be a futile exercise.

The Dodges also use MB part numbers. I always go to MB dealer where ever we are. Funny story: In Mexico once, a tractor trailer backed into us a tad and woke us up at 5 in the morning - then he took off. It wasn't a terrible amount of damage. I found a body guy to fix and repaint the hood. The plastic grill was cracked and out of curiosity I removed the grill and took it to the local Mercedes dealer in Mexico. The parts guy looked at the RAM emblem and told me to go to a Dodge dealer. I turned the grill over and showed him the part number. (You should know that almost everything from the factory has a part number somewhere on it.) He was shocked when he looked it up.

I ended up not replacing it. Too much money and would have to be imported from Germany.

The *parts* are all MB and so marked.
Prior to the NCV3 model, all US/Canada Sprinters were built in Germany (Dusseldorf) and shipped over.
(did you find a Dodge part number *also* molded into the plastic?)

2008 Dodge 144 passenger low roof.
225,000 miles and still cruising along.
Early years warranty work done at MB dealer.
Now my $s go to MB dealer when I can not fix.
Wish I lived in Golden Colorado.

Here! 2009 Hi-roof cargo van, Mercedes VIN label, "Ram" badges on the front and rear (titled as a Dodge). Dodge 2500 version, 3Liter/6 cylinder diesel, auto transmission. Now at 300900 miles. Runs very well, it takes me to the bank in style every week or two as I withdraw eye-watering amounts of $$$$ to pay for whatever went wrong that week.
I love this white wash-off-in-a-hard-rain tempura-painted, creaky, clumsy POS so much I can hardly stand it -- every mile is a smile on my face.

I can not agree with you more.

2008, 156k miles.

Just regular maintenance items and a few well known things like Y cable, inter-cooler hoses, etc.

Original EGR and all sensors. I've cleaned the EGR cooler 3 times - probably better if it had been 4.

Runs like it was new.

I think my success (luck?) has been due mostly to OEM parts, reading and following the manual (RTFM) - and keeping hacks, savages and asshole mechanics out from under my hood. Long warmups and no lead foot driving helps a lot too. Thermal shocks are very very bad for engines.

Rust. I waited too long on the fender panels and they turned into holes. I had the metal cut out and replaced, primed, etc. Some other rust and missing paint here and there as well - sanded and primed. Rather than expensive paint and blending - I just had the entire van wrapped in the same color. Very economical and the body looks new now as well. Way cheaper than paint. I recommend - definitely over the truck liner or home paint jobs I see quite often.
