Vacuum Line?

Pack Rats got to what I think may be a vacuum line. See the photos. One shows how the line is severed and a section chewed away. The other 3 images are where it connects.
Can someone confirm that this is a vacuum line or something else? It appears hollow, not copper as it appears, it is quite flexible and is taped into the wiring harness in many areas.
Can this line be patched or do I have to install a whole new line? If it can be patched, what do you recommend?
2016 Sprinter 3500 (NCV3).

Yes that is vacuum line and if you cannot obtain the rigid nylon pipe then use off the shelf rubber hose but it must be rated for vacuum, eg vacuum advance/retard hose.

Agree. That black, tapered disc-shaped thing in your 4th pic is a vacuum diaphragm. Not sure what it operates, but that's what that is. When it "sees" vacuum --fed by that hose-- it will pull a rod to change the position of that valve it's connected to.

I see it's just above the oil cooler or intercooler -- can someone identify that valve for me? Just curious.

Looks rather like a water cooled turbo! Which engine is this @Joe B

The engine is the 6-cylinder water cooled turbo. I hope it still is after the pack rats got to it.

I've worked on a few vans
No water cooling on the van 642 turbos. The cars have it, for some reason.

That’s the EGR cooler switchover valve. It will set a check engine light eventually with the line damaged. The early vans had a position sensor, you can see the little bracket there. The newer vans just use temperature to confirm function.

It’s the only thing on the engine that runs off vacuum. Brakes and EGR cooler.

I'm not that knowledgeable about this stuff but I'd assume it's water cooled if it has a radiator. Are you meaning something else?
Which photo are you ref regarding the switchover valve?

The engine is water cooled, the turbo itself is not.

The little electric solenoid valve on the far right controls vacuum to the vacuum solenoid on the (mechanical) EGR cooler switchover valve. They're all valves, solenoids, actuators, whatever you want to call them, but are all actuated in different ways and have different inputs/outputs.
