While enjoying the Memorial Day long weekend try to spend a few moments reflecting on the meaning of the holiday. I've posted a couple of these images before, but I make no apology for posting them again today.
The USS Arizona in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, where 1,102 sailors and Marines remain on watch.

The American Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer, above Omaha Beach at Normandy.

The Normandy Invasion was launched at low tide to avoid beach obstacles. Many who were too badly wounded to make it up the beach were drowned by the incoming tide.

The Vietnam Memorial in Washington DC.
