How many years have you been married?

Not long enough.

If you met us, you would agree that I am fortunate to be married.

Not my situation, but I will post this here just because I think its funny.

Fortunate is an understatement. But who am I to talk?

We've been married for 12 years, but we've been living together for 18. We didn't get married for mostly financial/tax reasons prior to that point.

20 years later (plus a long courtship) and she’s still laughing at my corny jokes; I think I’ll keep her! Seriously, marriage has been a blessing. I got a good one and we both still like each other….a lot!

Wow, lots of long and lasting marriages. In comparison to some of them here, ours feels short at just 32 years.

But I did act as the officiant for my youngest son‘s wedding recently. I realized, as I was writing out the ceremony, that he is exactly the same age I was when his mom and I got married. Pretty cool.

First marriage was 17 years and 20 years together. Current marriage is at 8 years but we were close platonic friends for 5 years prior.

This is the first time I've gotten into a long term relationship that legitimately started as just friends, 10/10 would recommend that path and often do to younger folks wresting with their under developed frontal lobe and biological motivations. Life is long and the impatient drives of youth an all too often self limiting illusion. Life is so much better traveling along side a true friend.

Heh, I wasn't even looking for a wife; I just wanted someone who got me at all, and didn't bore the hell out of me. The first year we knew each other, online, I didn't even know what she looked like!
