Back to our regularly scheduled program... retirement. We are currently celebrating my wife making it through one week of retirement. It was not easy. She gave nine months notice and changed her mind about 20 times.

Her SVP called her multiple times this week. The current state of affairs is that she's considering "two to three days remote consulting after the summer."

She received 21 bottles of wine at her retirement party. I wish my Sprinter would run on this piss. 😁

I'm a lot younger than many of you here, so my perspective may be a bit different, but I follow the Boglehead philosophy.

Every two weeks, I invest a significant amount into one of the ETFs I hold. I use Coast FIRE calculations to make sure I'm on track for a comfortable retirement at 55. I'll be 43 next week, and I've already reached my Coast FIRE number, which means that portion of my portfolio can simply grow until retirement. Everything I save beyond that is additional cushion.

I've found Coast FIRE calculators to be incredibly helpful for long-term planning. I'm not aiming for traditional FIRE or Lean FIRE. I genuinely enjoy my job, and with the rise of AI, I'm becoming more productive and spending more time on hobby development projects as well.

If some of my "paper money" eventually turns into real money, I may revisit and adjust the plan, but for now I'm happy with the path I'm on.

I could tell you the secret to retiring by the time you're 38.

I have a kid, I don’t want to retire. I want my nest egg to grow as we travel the world. When she graduates high school, I will retire. And I surely won’t be rotting away on an internet forum for my retirement years.

It doesn't matter what age you are; if you like to do stuff, you'll be bored. I sincerely hope you come up with a more productive use of your time than residing on here. Pay attention to my daily post count. You'll notice a trend.
