I'm on the road again. Solo this time.
We sold our 2017 Thor Citation POS because it was just too low to get to get almost anywhere.
We had to be extremely careful where we camped and a lot of good BLM and random campsites were just beyond getting to.
Don't get me wrong, we absolutely loved the extra space, especially now that the dog has grown up.
We kept the 170 and that's what I'm travelling in now.
Since the van is too small for our "family" now, and some health issues that preclude my wife from travelling, I'm doing something that my wife would not enjoy doing.
I'm going to King of the Hammers.

Because of the hassles of staying in the US for more than 30 days now, I'll be keeping the trip to less than that.
KOH is held each year in Johnson Valley CA. It's in the Mohave Desert. Like Burning Man, they get a special permit and use BLM land for the event.
There is a fee, $100 plus tax that gets you into the event. There is also a fee for camping but the website is vague about vans, so I'll wait until I get there to see if I have to pay to camp.
I am hoping to meet up with with some Landcruiser interne t friends and hang with them. It is always better to have locals show you around than have to discover (or miss) the best things to do.
It was recommended that the last 8 days were what was worth watching the most. The trucks and buggies.
As has become tradition, I left Calgary with snowy roads and very cold temps; below 0F.
The roads were snowy all the way to the border. Had 'er in 4x4 so no worry.
I have been smoking a pipe for the past several years (nicotine addiction) and always stopped every couple of hours for a smoke.
But I quite in the summer, and man, can you ever put the miles on if you don't have to stop so often.
Anywho, got to the border and crossed with out drama.
There have been horror stories about Canadians getting grilled and having phones checked lately since DJT changed/tightened the security at the border.
I was prepared for a hassle but was very pleasantly surprised, business as usual.
Diesel prices have really come down. They are the lowest since we started travelling in 2020.

But for the most part the roads were dry.
Still very burly, but above 0F now.
The new (number 3) CDH does a good job of keeping the van warm at night.
