ACTUAL Best emission modifications?

Thx...was thinking more for preventative maintenance if there is a very high chance it will fail...get it over with and replace with something that will never fail. Not sure what the failure probabilities are though. Doesn't look like the easiest DIY job
All water pumps fail at some point, keep this in mind.... But not all water pumps are vacuum controlled/activated. Why not remove the vacuum and have the water pump function as a standard water pump like the one on OM642 engine?

Yes either way I'd be removing the vacuum. I'm going to leave water pump in place and hope for long life. I just sent funds to Vlad for the emission deletes and the vacuum error code block.

Just did the flash. EGR at 0% on the scan. Will remove the vacuum line from the water pump in a couple days when the vacuum line end caps arrive. Assistance very much appreciated..

And how’d it go? How’s she running?
Very happy with how it's running. Hesitation is gone and I had an exhaust noise that was introduced after the emission recall work, which was super annoying, and that's gone now too...but that may have been from the EGR delete not the tune.

And just to clarify my update included both the stage 1 tune and the EGR delete. The one negative about the update, and can't be sure if it's the EGR delete or the tune, is that when I shut off the motor, the shutdown is a little rougher.

Hi, I have now deleted the EGR, is there anything else I should do at the same time?

The car works fine. I don't know what they used to read and write the ECU. Should I physically disconnect the connector from the EGE? The DPF fills up very slowly. I've driven 870 km and it's now at 42%.

It all depends on how the modification of the firmware and exhaust system is done.

If the functioning of the exhaust back pressure sensor is switched off in the firmware, you can use a block off plate upstream of the egr.... You can completely remove the egr and its cooler from the vehicle. It is preferable to use a straight pipe with this modification due to the fact that the functioning of EBP sensor is switched off.

If the EBP sensor is functioning and is not switched off in the firmware, the block off plate must be place downstream of the egr if the egr is not removed from the van.

Is the EBP sensor functioning on your van?
@Ivan Borisovich @Maslin This is my EGR on a 2019 van with 14K miles. The van has been jerking for over a year and had an instance of powerless (10-15 secs) on the freeway in this month. Took it to an independent shop and they scoped it and found this.

How bad is this? taking to the dealer next week.

The valve looks normal. The cooler is pretty nasty, but also normal. That chunk at the bottom is interesting, I wouldn't expect to see that.

Looks like nearly every one I look at. It's a nasty system.

You scope down the big hole when the EGR is out. That's the front edge of the EGR cooler, right side of the engine.

How do you clean the EGR cooler and intake, though? Or do I not wanna know?

We don't have OM642 engines, so this isn't as large of a problem for us as it is for the V6 folks.

I've been told that I don't want to know how to get at the EGR valve on my OM651, because access is a PITA and the shop's book rate for R&R is enough to send a dealer tech's kid to college.....

I've replaced 1 651 EGR and it didn't fix the van.

The hesitation/slam/hit on a 651 is the intake. They're plastic, I would count on it being a maintenance item every XX miles.

If my plastic intake manifold ever cracks, it will immediately be sent to a friend's race fabrication shop to be used as a template to make a tubular intake header.....

I imagine the 654 is the same, bloody plastic.

Is it possible to swap an OM617 into a VS30?
