It was a mutual bet, you would have got 10 oz of silver had it not gone up, and it didn't as of yet. So you don't have to cop out just yet, but you will cop out soon...
A bet doesn't exist unless both parties agree to the terms. I offered a steak dinner. You rejected.

I upped the ante Duh, you wanted to go cheap because you knew you would lose, and you would the pleasure of torturing me for an hour or two at a restaurant while you blabbed.

Real numbers for the brain dead that don't have a stake in the game. Otherwise he would be ecstatic. Almost doubled in a year.

Baab, I don't get ecstatic about raises in the spot of price of assets I have no intention of selling at present. Why would I?

Likewise, I don't get upset about decreases in the spot price of assets I have no intention of selling at present.

Yeah but you sure did carry on about it, like you do care, and it bothers you, since all you have is a couple of brass watches.

I care that I have an opportunity to make fun of you for stupid things you say. This is a source of amusmement. I don't care a jot about the current spot price of gold. My gold is mostly in the form of collectables that I would be extremely loath to get rid of. Which was the point: tie up my assets in places my wife could liquidate once I'm gone, and I get to enjoy owning them while I'm alive.

Shame for you your wife isn't so indulgent with you, and that a Challenger isn't really an appreciating asset.

Markets are saying sad things. Melting down 1880s mint silver dollars for industrial uses.

Used computer sales a tough. Buying pallets of computers just to harvest the DDR5 ram cards. Same stuff.

There is a point where the value of your watch is much less than the gold it is made up. Thus the value is ONLY the spot price of gold.

Depends what kind of watch it is. If it was a Elgin, sure, melt value is higher. Not so much when it's a Patek Philippe or Rolex or Omega.
