ECM/OBD connector, pinout, & schematic

The SM 8W schematics notations often include “*OBD” AND “**EXCEPT OBD”
…again in 8-30 c2 c3 wiring
…again in 8-80 pinouts

is C2 the OBD port and C3 the ECM? The architecture doesn‘t make sense or more likely still… I’m a rock.
Between fine print, pinouts, and 24 ga. tricolor coding… Im pushing the edge of focal envelope

can someone help me make sense of this please?

OBD = US = only 2 connectors on ECU. more pins on each one

Except OBD = Rest of world, 5 connectors on ECU

There also might be a split between 2001-2003 US = 5 connectors on ECU (but still obd)
2004-2006, OBD, 2 connectors on ECU.

what year do you have and where do you live, also just look at your ECU, right about the hood/bonnet release. then you can count the connectors on the ECU and give you guidance

also to make you more confused - there are wiring errors in the factory manual! I am sure dick will post them
