Looking for passenger and driver side windows (like pictured). Don’t really like the “full” size look. Any recommendations.

Hi,
Arctic Tern
Dometic/Heki
Probably others...

You want fixed or tilt-open?
Glass or acrylic?

Be careful about security on windows in the slide door, or in general. I ended up putting a piece of strut in front of my drivers side (no door) window because the tilt out window from Van Windows Direct was big enough to let a kid enter (with help).

Van Windows Direct fixed glass was fine, their tilt style vent window was junk.

I'd go with Tern for this style window. The installation is a bit more complicated than a CRL or other full size window though. With Tern you will get a better insulated window.

That looks like a double paned Dometic, same as the Revel comes with.

Honestly, I’d get a full size window with the sliding opening. When you cut out the sheet metal in the middle of the door for the Dometic, the whole thing flexes when you close the door. Same with the sheet metal on the drivers side, that whole panel flexes. It is not supported very well internally. The full size window is bonded to the window frame sheet metal. Much stronger. And glass won’t scratch like Pexiglass when you clean it.

If you just want stock, non opening crew and slider door windows those are often for sale on craigslist in SoCal. Probably elsewhere too I’d imagine.
I think I sold mine for 100 each after I had the CRL’s installed. .

Does anyone have experience with and/or opinions about the quality/durability of AM Auto vs. Van Windows Direct vs. Van Tek Glass half slider windows? It seems that the biggest differences are the AM Auto slides back to front, the Van Windows direct has a locking mechanism, and the Van Tek Glass window has the ability to lock open in multiple positions.

Wow I wasn’t aware Van Tek Glass is in the 714 HB area, thanks for mentioning them.

Says made in Europe, guessing eastern.
Some info on their screened slider.

  • Internal Fly/Insect Screen
  • Drop Pin Lock – Sliding Window Can Be Locked in Multiple Open Positions
  • Fly Screen slides independently to the opening window to allow airflow whilst being protected from flying insects entering the vehicle.
  • Bonded window – No external seal or gasket
  • Privacy stained glass (not a tinting film)
  • Tinted to 80% allowing 20% of light to pass through
  • Made in Europe
  • Av Rating 15% (block 15% of UV rays)
  • External Drainage system
  • Black ceramic (silk print) round the internal circumference of the glass so you can’t see the cut metal work
  • Tried and tested design
  • Driver Side Size 1406mm x 769mm

I just installed the Van Tek windows with the half slider. Personally, i am not that pleased with the quality of their windows. Specifically, I installed the quarter panel glass on a crew van. The screen on the half slider has a pretty big gap that doesn't cover the entire opening. This defeats the purpose of having a "bug screen" when the gap is this big. Second, the driver side one is slightly shorter leaving a 1/2" gap behind the glass and the back of the van. I would go with the AM windows.

That gap has to be a mistake, have you contacted Van Tek about the screen gaps?

I emailed them through their website today. I don't expect a response back until monday. I may end up driving back to their shop and asking them if that is. I'll post their response when I get it.

Broad Arrow.curved awning style windows from Wilderness van. Double pane acrylic so they're better insulated. Also come with built-in shades and screens. We did 2 larger ones up front and 2 smaller ones near the back on our 170. They are great.

Update on the Van-tek windows -
The gap is normal and allegedly present on all of the available half sliders out there. I was told that I was pulling the sliding glass back too far which exposes the gap. My concern was that not pulling the glass back far enough results in the latch being unable to hold the screen in place. This allows anyone outside the van to slide the screen open and reach inside. I was told this was normal and that the screen was not supposed to be latched when the window was open.

I cannot speak for other windows on the market, but if it is true that all companies have similar issues, Van-Tek windows are fine. If the gap/security issue is unique to Van-Tek, I would buy from a different company.

I will post a full review on my website with the updated build hopefully this week. More photos and such.
