Thank you. Just filled up at VA Racing in Guerrero Negro with the only diesel they had. The attendant keeps some sunglasses on hand to get the safety shield on the intake to accept their skinny nozzle.

When you are ready to go north, the first ULSD will be at the Pemex in Villa Jesus Maria, which is the first town north of the state line between BC and BCS. The station was closed recently after a cartel shooting but should be reopened by now. There is a small restaurant there with decent food.

Actually I was just there earlier today. Someone told me it was still closed from the shooting. I got a coffee but didn't even see the station.

The Pemex in Villa Jesus Maria is adjacent to Mex Hwy 1 at Km 95. Its impossible to miss. Taqueria Kassandra, the restaurant I mentioned, shares the parking lot.

Yea I vaguely remember passing a Pemex that was shut down as I was looking for fuel then not knowing it was the last ULSD. Good to know in the future. I’m surprised there aren’t more 4cly post 2023 owners posting on here their experience with LSD in Baja Sur and to absolutely get something to bypass the fuel filler safety check. I was unprepared on both fronts.

Like anywhere, Baja is safe until it isn’t.
Are you asking about crime? Availability of medical services for those who engage in high risk activities or in the event of a health issue? The water quality? Condition of the highways? Risk of hurricanes or flash floods? Snake bites?
I live in Baja now. I, and most of the expats I know generally feel safe. However, the Australian surfers camped alone on a deserted beach who were murdered over the new tires on their truck might have felt differently.

I've never felt unsafe in the regard to crime in Mexico and Baja is generally more safe than the mainland. The roads can be a different story as most of the world, road accidents are the most dangerous part of travel. As mentioned there was the Australian surfers who were killed a few years back that made the news and some Australian van dwellers in Sinaloa in 2015. While Mexico has a high murder rate, most deaths are associated with intercartel violence and are not targeted at tourist. My risk tolerance might be higher as I live in the very dangerous country of the United States of America where frequently I have felt unsafe and double murders barely make the news.
In general don't drive at night, make it through the border cities and probably best not to camp in deserted spots alone. Plenty of scenic camping areas where the locals will charge a small fee to stay and experience Mexican hospitality. Mexico is a beautiful diverse country and I always enjoy returning to it when I get a chance.

No, low level gangbangers committed the murders for a girlfriend who wanted their tires. Whether the murders were her idea is subject to some dispute, but she was involved and will serve 20 years. The surfers were in the wrong place at the wrong time and not involved in a drug deal.
I was living in San Miguel de Allende in Guanajuato. I now live in Playas La Mision in Baja California.
RIP to the guys but it was out there to avoid that place. Someone already reported having issues in that area six years ago. Also it’s pretty well known in Baja to avoid camping anywhere on the Pacific side north of El Rosario.
