Black mbux screen

Hello all,
I have a mbux 7” system.
My sprinter has a black screen but I can hear the radio .
I have done a search and I know this can be common.
Things I have tried ,
Swopped the screen to another van, screen worked perfectly.
Removed the media unit to check wiring . It all seems fine .
I got another media unit to replace it, but when I switched it over there was the obvious theft protection, but the screen was still black the theft protection message was read from the cluster and not the 7” screen.

I called a few coding professionals who said that they can code the replacement unit but the fact the screen still didn’t come on was a concern that it may be a wiring issue.?

what recommendations can you guys give me? Is there any way I can check the wiring to the screen with the multi meter or can you not check optic cable like that ?

should I just take a risk and code the replacement?
The problem does seem to be the media unit or wiring .

Any help would be much appreciated
Thanks

you may want to reach out to @Sprinter man Sam
there's another ongoing thread about swapping MBUX screens and you potentially run the risk of bricking yours ...

@Kas-sprinter - does the screen ever come back?

I have the black mbux screen issue, warranty replacement for the full 7" screen by dealer. It was okay for about 1-2 months, then it started again. But....then, it came back on a road trip...off and on...

Thank you.

I have my fader enabled and wired it for rear speakers which work great. Now all of a sudden my screen flickered and went black... I don't think it's a connection issue as I reset the MBUX (hold down the "star' "fav" button on the steering wheel AND the "Tel" button on the MUBX) and it worked fine. Then it went black again? The system still works, ie the audio....

Thx

Hello guys update on this, when the rvc interface was removed the screen came back to life.
The problem was with the rear camera interface.
I replaced that and everything is back to normal .
Thank you

My issue was a wire tie. The MB dealer removed the unit, wiggled the unit and noticed a non-OEM wire tie (??), replaced it, with OEM and adjusted the unit back into the compartment/chasis. It was the tapping into speakers out to an amp and the reinstall that created the loose connection and black screen. So far, so good. Sheesh.

Shute - I suppose I will have to look at the connections. Though the screen turns back on as soon as I do a reset, which I seem to have to do more often. Would this be a warranty issue?

my screen was not allowing touch control, brought it into dealer, said they updated it. worked for a 30 min, after stopping for a coffee i came out started it and it was black. called them when i got back to office, no response, i then disconnected power to van. came back to life, however intermittently the touch control goes away. Then just tonight started out trip all working, stopped to grab food, started van, black screen, drove that way for about an hour and it just came back to life. Its just the screen bc the radio worked, and I could hear clicks from my steering wheel control as if i was using the screen. I think its software or firmware, bc to many bumps on road and no affect on unit
anybody have any ideas? how about cost to replace screen?

My screen seemed to have gotten worse, blacking out often... I took the unit out, unplugged the 3 main connector then reattached them. I did find one wire which was attached but seemed to have been frayed. I trimmed the fray and placed some electrical tape around it and so far so good... I haven't taken it on any appreciable drive to really test out if the fix worked...

Drove several hundred miles and it works great - unsure if unplugging and plugging back in And/Or placing some electrical tape around the frayed wire did the trick....
