Not sure if any of the madness happening on the mainland has made it to Baja. Hope calbiker is ok…
Baja is as peaceful as ever; at least where I go. I don't drive through Tijuana, but go through Mexicali and take the MEX 5 to Gonzaga Bay. That stretch is a pleasure to drive. Unfortunately due to a sickness in the family I had to cut my stay 2 weeks short. Just got home. The drive back was a bit interesting as I lost functionality of the rear sway bar. Don't know when the "retainer" got lost. The retainer connects the sway bar to the rear axle with 2 bolts. One of the bolts sheared off at the nut that's connected to the axle mount, the other bolt along with the retainer is gone. The suspension/sway actually wasn't that bad, considering I have a top heavy motor home. The Fox shocks help a lot keeping sway under control.

C-Dash of course works terrific. It gives me a sense of security that the drivetrain is working well. That's especially important when driving in Mexico.

Got to agree, it is a beauty!

So far I haven't changed the price since start; with fan tach, ram ball mount, USB connector: $280 + $15 shipping. Since then, my part costs have increased significantly. I'm just starting to reorder parts for the final 10 units (6 or 7 units may already be spoken for). There could be a $10 or $20 increase. Still the best deal on the planet. No where else can you get this type of data streaming for a OM647 T1N.

Main screen:
speed, rpm, fan rpm, gear, load, boost pressure, torque, odometer, fuel level, fuel consumed, instantaneous mpg, mpg
Temperature: H2O, atf, fan air, ambient, cabin, vent

Eng screen:
speed, rpm fan rpm, egr, load, turbo %, fuel pressure, aux fan status (on/off), boost pressure, oil quality, oil level, battery voltage
Temperature: H2O, atf, oil, fan air

Big screen (easier to read):
speed, rpm, load, boost pressure, torque, mpg, fuel level, oil level
Temperature: H2O, atf, oil, ambient, cabin, vent

Max screen (maximum recorded values):
speed, boost, fam rpm, odometer, A/C pressure (real time data)
Temperature: H2O, atf, oil, fan air, ambient, cabin, C-Dash internal

Cal screen (calibrate):
Date, speed, fuel consumed, fuel reset, file storage (on/off), Tach operation (on/off), display intensity, units (us/metric)

Data logging (6 second interval):
Ambient temp, atf temp, H2O temp, oil temp, fan temp, intake temp, fuel temp, cabin temp, vent temp, boost psi, fuel valve, fuel pressure, speed, load, torque, turbo %, rpm, fan rpm, torque converter slip rpm, throttle position, maf, O2 voltage, lambda, instantaneous mpg, mpg, fuel tank level, fuel consumed, egr, oil level, battery voltage, selected gear, actual gear, Aux fan status, wheel speed sensor (all 4 wheels), trip odometer, internal C-Dash temperature

A buzzer will alarm and data will be highlighted if certain readings are beyond a specified limit.

BTW, it took a couple of years to reverse engineer these proprietary OBD PIDs.

That is the original retainer bracket. Some 15 years ago I switched to a larger sway bar. After doing accelerometer suspension testing I determined the larger SB enhanced slow speed rocking. About 5 years ago I reinstalled the stock SB. I drove about 1000 miles in Baja without a SB.

Don't know if its possible to purchase a new retainer bracket. Dodge dealer doesn't have them. Does anybody have a spare 3500 bracket???

Sounds fair, a little above my pay grade to equip all my vans, but i want two for my primaries.
So, i am down for 2

Starting to get the 10-unit build together. The multiplexer chip I'm using can't be purchased in a DIP package any more. Had to make a new circuit board layout for a surface mount package. Hopefully soldering won't be that difficult. Some parts have a sticker shock, like 300% increase!

There's some interesting data from my last trip.

I found it interesting the ATF temperature increased between the 55 and 63 minute time period while oil temperature decreased. Speed drop from about 60 mph to 10 - 20 mph with a lot of gear changing as seen in the SlipRPM graph. It appears the torque converter slip generated enough heat to increase ATF from 168 F to 186 F (18 F increase). Oil temp decreased from 227 F to 206 F (20 F) during that period. That's a lot of heat generated by the torque converter!

They arent too expensive, and i found it makes surface mount work a breeze...

Good suggestion. I have a Aoyue 852A++ Pro that I use to remove parts. Will see how it works installing them. Solder paste is new to me. I've kept some solder paste in the freezer for 3 years. Time to try it out!

If the solder paste has expired (it may separate), I've had good luck with the no refrigeration solder paste. Here's one that's pretty cheap.


My website in my signature has a link to my TCXO board with info on how it was fabbed. Although I used a reflow oven, it still may be some help.

I don't believe my sn42bi58 solder paste has an expiration date. Label says to freeze it. I'm excited to try it out. Besides the new surface mount multiplexer, there's also some surface mount ceramic caps and a linear regulator. I'll get a handle on the easy-to-solder components first.

That's got to be low temperature paste? I have used lead free SAC305, much higher temperature, not easy. I'm a glutten for punishment.

You have the much older OM602 engine so a definite NO!

It doesn't even work with the OM611 and OM612 engines.
Now she is crying thanks to you 😐

Meh just kidding, it's nice to reset any fault code (that I can't see lol) with un/plugging positive battery terminal lol
