Probably the most ridiculous rear ends I see in trucks put on for style as opposed to function.are the Carolina Squat trucks. Lots of them in the South. Haven't seen a Carolina Squat Sprinter yet but hopefully one day. Great approach angle for off road but the departure angle?Screenshot_20250820-103728.png

every second sprinter is in Carolina Squat position due to 10k pounds load on the stock suspension from builders

just curious about your thoughts on the rear step?

I've been going back and forth, Owl Vans, RB components (twins separated at birth), and ultimately BEG.

I really want the rear step made by BEG but then, I hate dealing with the hassles, have to provide the additional paperworks to the shipping company to get the tariffs removed and etc etc, while I can just pay Owl & RB online and have them shipped w/o having to worry about tariffs.

Another last one surfaced is the rear step being sold via Etsy by TheVanLife:
The seller has been muted, asked how it's compatible with the rear parking sensor and the distance between the mounting brackets is 33.5".

My impression is that the tariffs won't be in place forever and just waiting 'til it gets lifted.

do you really open both doors?

I never open driver side door for example during travels, unless I need to transport cargo etc on day to day basis, so for me from adventure perspective OEM step perfect.

You’re absolutely right that the tariffs are a pain. BEG did tell me they’ve been able to streamline their shipping process from Canada, but for many people, that extra paperwork step is still a deal breaker.

For me, the quality is worth it. Full disclosure: I'm a BEG brand ambassador. We genuinely love their products because they're exceptionally well-made. Our first purchase from them (which we paid for ourselves) was the steel Apex Sliders, and they are incredibly solid. We’ve slammed our van on off-camber, rocky climbs, and only the coating came off—aluminum sliders would have been toast.

Yes, I always open both doors especially having the 270' hinges allowed us to keep 'em opened fully w/o having to worry about getting slammed.

I should also mention that I don't have cabinets under the bed, aka the garage area, have boxes and canopy and portable kitchen/table + portable solar panels.

Never know what someone’s handicap may be… his is obviously from being too bad ass tho. Cause he got a sweet rig. lol
If you can climb into a lifted 4-driven-wheel Sprinter, you may well have a genuine handicap, but it is not one that is benefited from a closer parking spot.

Those people should be sent to the bottom of the ocean with the storied lawyers. The only thing that modification does is kill people.

I think that etsy step is by Rugged Van Co, not to be confused with Rugged Design Concepts.

Totally missed your post, good finding!

The owner name is Andrew and I reached out to him via Etsy app but he has been ghosting me, LOL

His post says 3 left and aligne with what Etsy app says as well.

I was curious whether he tested out with the rear parking sensors and the width of the mounting brackets

I guess I can ask one of the member in this forum who owns this rear step for the dimensions.

As a long time proponent of packing your trash that I am, it is good to see an alternative to storing trash inside. My roof rack provides for trash storage until I find a site to hopefully recycle the few leftovers that I generate.

Every product I buy keeps that thought in mind. If it cannot be recycled, it is not being bought. It is easy to keep this mind these days.

Our footprints will not go unnoticed to our future generations to come.

Which side do you want to be known for? My choice was made long ago. I consider every time I drive anywhere that there is a dedicated purpose.

I have a few days every week that I don't drive anywhere. I hope others attempt something similar if their own family requirements can allow such consideration.
