All done sound deadening, working on insulation now, headliner, firewall, a & b pillars, door panels, walls and ceiling.
Hey Mike, which brand/model bunk did you go with? That is my next upgrade and I'm curious what was your decision criteria for the awning style vs. slide function.

I did the CR Lawrence AW1033. I wanted awning style so I could use them in the rain. And I wanted to be able to open the slider door when window is open so I didn’t go with the tern overland cause I know I’d rip the off the side of the van one late night. lol

Well I was just bragging to my buddy the other day how much I love my power system goal zeros yeti 3000x. It seems to have an issue as of last night after I unplugged everything and moved it out of the way. The unit is flashing cold and the thermostat light is on… I log into the app and it’s sayin temp is 30°ish and then will jump to 122°ish. I tried the reset on the screen by pressing info and unit down for 30sec and the unit flashes upd / cold before it reboots.

I put in ticket to GZ and we’ll see what they say.

on another note I took the time and troubleshot my driver side roof lights that weren’t working… I found no power going to the switch so I traced out the wires and found the issue. I guess when I replaced my foot well in the driver side step it caught and unplugged the little switch connector to the harness. Simple enough and didn’t have to tear out too much to find it. All roof lights working as they should.

bummed about the GZ. Life goes on but we’re gunna keep focused on the van for now.

I got it in like 4/23. I’m sure it’ll be fine. I’m hoping it’s a swappable temp sensor and not some control board.
I ended up going with a solution like that too. So far so good. 🤞 I’m able to power the house with it too so it seemed like a solid decision. I guess the only down side vs building the solar/battery system ourselves is that internal troubleshooting and device replacement is off the table.

Or don't troubleshoot and replace the whole thing with the latest and greatest technology.

I have anker solix f3800, which came with 5yrs warranty + (I think additional 2yrs warranty during the initial rollout). Once it decided to die after the warranty period ends, I'll take it to the e-cycle and get the new one. Paid $3,100 / 7yrs, avg out to about $450 per year. Not a bad deal especially I've used it two winters already to power our 2x hone refrigerators during the power outages.

I bet I’ll be able to fix whatever is wrong. It still charges and works. Just has the alarm essentially. The temp sensor seems to be bad. It’s in the house now saying 55°

These are the steps goal zero gave me to check my issue of temp difference and how to hard reset the unit. If you do hard reset the unit you will lose the data point where it has how much use on the system… fyi.

this didn’t work as my unit is still reading temp super cold. So I’m just gunna buy another GZ 3000x and send this one in for repair. Then I’ll have 2.

So I went ahead and just bought another GZ 3000x. Ain’t no time to wait for repairs. Now I’ll have a backup.

Can I borrow some leaves off your money tree?

I advise you to convert to Judaism, at least fiscally.
lol no money tree here. Just hones hard work and wise choices. It all started with $50k build budget. Still on track to stay under. I’m sure I’ll be right at or a little over. I buy stuff used when I can. This GZ I picked up yesterday I found for a grand. I had to buy it.

Got the galley wall panel fitted up and overhead cabinet re mounted. Pulled it all back out to polyurethane the wall panel. Still havnt decided on finish materials for “backsplash” but I’m thinking a stainless steel tile.

I installed some under cabinet lighting 3000k temp and red was hard to find but I like these little bars, wired up my grey tank electronic drain valve, installed my new GZ 3000x, ran the diesel heater and stress tested the 12v circuitry. Literally turned everything on for a couple of hours to try and break something. Tidied up some odds and ends and installed some cabinet liners in the overhead cabinet and the visor shelf’s cause I hate rattles.

I’ve got a couple noises I need to chase down in the van. But they’re not very loud in comparison to wind and road noise.

van is ready for deer season… I wish I could have gotten more done this summer but life gets in the way sometimes. Still going to make some steady progress before years end.

I’ll prolly install my backsplash next week.

and I’ve been stalled lately on comms… I’m really trying to figure out if I want a starlink mini or a weboost, or both… my mind is leaning twords both really. So I’m trying to provision those and prepare where they’re gunna go and how ima run the wiring so I’m at a stand still on closing in the bunk area… knowing I have to tear out my rear ceiling panel again lol.

oh and I processed about 14 lbs of deer jerky this week cause I was almost out of pocket snacks for the woods. lol dogs are most happy aswell as their snack jar just got replenished with all the scraps. We never waist anything when it comes to these deer.

Well I put a doe in the cooler this past weekend. Good start to the season. I had a couple slow hunts so I was day dreaming about the van next thing you know I’m ordering parts lol.

I’m finally ready to install max trax on the driver side step rail, (2) 4 gallon rotopax on rear passenger door for gas and diesel and (2) 2 gallon water rotopax for drinking water inside the van somewhere.

I use gas for generator and motorcycle and I use diesel for tractor, fires and emergency fuel for van. They will be full so don’t come at me for overland eye candy on my van lol. The max trax on the other hand I hope I never need them for the van but it’s good to have especially for others.

got a wild idea and decided to just weigh the van on a normal hunting load out weekend. I’m right at 8200 lbs with all tanks about half full. I think ima go with the heavier shock tune from VC. One thing I’m surprised about is how relatively even the weight sits on the axles. I figured the rear would be significantly more… keep in mind I have a Motorcycle on the hitch and a lot of gear in the rear. I can easily see myself at the 8700lbs mark once a full work weekend load out is install.

Van compass order will be a VC 4.3 kit, rally struts, Baja bracket (upper and lower), their progressive rear bump stop, add the air link for sway bar, throw on their diff cover, and I’m sure something I’m missing I’ll add to cart!

I ordered a weboost drive reach RV 2. And when I install that I will likely provision wires to roof for starlink mini in the future. Just wanted to start with weboost cause I’ve got a lot of money going out the door. And don’t really want a star link chillin not being used for a few months. Kinda wanna catch one on sale. Gunna just run wires for now. Yay for another ceiling work day.

lots to do. So little time lol. Who wants to come help?

Can you tell my muse is Jay Ward?

Man I’m so indecisive about this suspension right now… now I’m reconsidering the AO 2.5 pro elite rip kit… why are decisions like this so hard.

in light of all the problems I’ve been seeing around VC I just don’t have the confidence to spend that kind of money on their product right now…
