Upgrade seats

My partner hates the standard ambo seats and wants something a bit more comfortable. As a "happy wife=happy life" anyone have any suggestions on where I can start looking? I'm in Melbourne so a Vic supplier would be preferable šŸ˜ƒ
Thanks in advance

Scheel-Mann are really nice, but thousands of dollars.

My 'comfort' seats are good enough that I might not replace them; maybe you can find some off a newer van at a junkyard?

What year is yours?

I fitted Saab 95 aero seats from a 2006, fully heated electric memory black leather seats.
Anything can be made to fit really, the seatbases are nearly square.
The originals were terrible for anything more than an hour.
Have a look at the breakers/scrapyard, I had Bentley seats in one of my old VW.

EG: i once fitted Peugeot 505 seats to a Holden One Tonner = Heaven
A quick look on Gumtree for Peugeots being wrecked in Melbourne - lots in wrecking yards
So likely to get some late model ones at a good price..

IF not a direct fit Engineering Approval maybe required. ( for insurance, don't think the police would be a problem)

How'd you wire in all the electrics? Any guides or posts? I'm looking at upgrading my 2014 seats. TYIA

If you can get your hand on manual Volvo 240/740/940/Galaxy/P2 seats, they are far more comfortable, often also heated, and a lot less hassle.
I'm guessing you must be UK based! Never heard of most of those models! However, I'm going to head down to the local salvage yard today and have a look around. I'm hoping I can find something with similar rail patterns!

US. Volvos main big sedan 1976-93 was the 240, 84-91 was the 740, smaller engine big sedan 91-95 940, the Galaxy platform underpinned midsize sedans as the 1994- 2002 850 and V70/S70, P2 was the 1999-2009 or so S60/S80/V70.

The 240, despite its age, remains the second most comfortable car seat manufactured after the unit used in upper-trim Peugeot 505s, but those are unobtanium and their shape makes them hard to adapt to other uses. Most Volvo seats were available in cloth, vinyl, and very high quality leather.

I had a Bussiness building desk chairs out of car seats once.

That's really good info! The large junkyard I was in yesterday only had a few early 2000's Volvo's and every single one of them the seats were trashed. I don't think they held up well under the sun. I left with two Honda Odyssey seats. Cloth Driver from a 2001 (really want that arm rest) and Cloth passenger from a 2004 (I think), coulda been a 2006. Manual controls, arm rest, AND...score, a drop down table for in between the seat. I'm sure they're mid range comfort but for $100 for the pair, that'll do for now as a drastic improvement over the stock 2014 sprinter "seats".

Volvos are reliable and durable cars. They have a tendency to get driven enough miles to trash just about everything in them.

Also, most people in junkyards don't seem to think the interior is of value to anyone. Not uncommon to find something like a radiator that was removed to get it out of the way, just being tossed on what was heretofore a pristine seat.
