Oh Man do I envy you. I'm stuck here in hot humid flat Illinois for the rest of the summer. Have a great time and enjoy the mountains and please take a big gulp of that mountain air for me please:laughing:

The second crew staged the van at Box Canyon while the first crew (with me) started from Slough Creek Trail head in Yellowstone National Park. When we finished the hike, I found a cryptic note that they noticed fuel was low - and best wishes on getting out. P7301381.JPG

Indeed, the low fuel light was on from the moment I turned the key. 40 miles to the closest station. After 22 miles of 20 MPH on a rough dirt road, then 45 MPH on a good road to optimize mpg (and a 2000 foot drop in elevation), we arrived at a diesel OASIS in Big Timber

5 (FIVE) diesel options (3 shown):
#1 15 ppm Highway
#1 15 ppm dyed
#2 15 ppm Highway
#2 15 ppm dyed
#2 500 ppm dyed

I put in 26.7 gallons.

And the temperature rose from 75 at Box Canyon to 101 at Big Timber

Another successful Absaroka High Adventure for my Scout Crew and van (as Philmont closed for this year due to fire) (but without me)
