Continuing with what others have referred to as a "complete hack job" of a conversion. I learned the following things that others may find useful.

1) You lose about a pint of coolant disconnecting the heater, and attaching a bypass hose.
2) When you disconnect the electrical portion of the heater the AC system will no longer cool.
3) Reconnecting the electrical portion of the heater will reenable the AC system. (no coding tools required)
4) The coolant valve is controlled with a stepper motor.

What was your end goal working on your H13,
to try to convert it to a heater that is actually useable with engine off and at whatever temps you want?

Its in the way of the Isotemp water heater, and the propane tank that will go in that area.
Eventually, I will relocate something similar to the inside of the van. Most likely a different heater core, and reusing the blower and control valve.

I've discovered this issue with my AC system not working. Unfortunately, I removed the H13 unit during last winter and threw it out, so I can't just reconnect the electrical portion of it to get the AC working again. Any idea if there is a way to "delete" the H13 option from the van so it isn't looking for a signal from it in the first place? My understanding is some vans come with just the H12 diesel heater but not the H13, so it should be possible. Apparently there are remote e-coding services where you plug a device into your van and they can make these changes remotely over the internet. Anyone aware of this? Thanks
