Yeah, the folks down in the southern hemisphere got all the good stuff, 4X4, Manual Transmission, Bull (Roo) guards, tire carriers, etc.

Mark
They got a stick?! That’s not fair at all. Bull guards…. meh. I’d definitely pass on 4x4 though.

You don't know what you're missing. It's a blast. Unless of course strictly paved road is your thing.
I’m definitely an off-road guy and have probably driven some cat tracks I shouldn’t have. If I was endowed with the false sense of confidence that 4-wheel drive afforded… I’d be that idiot making headlines when he was finally found upside down in a ravine 10 years after the fact. It’s better for all considered that I test the limits within range of a tow truck.

Car companies figure Americans can't handle a stick. Our last vehicle with one is my Subaru. The southern dwellers got a diesel and the 6 speed and I think more ground clearance. I got the gasser and the very rare 6 speed, no longer available.

All my kids learned on a stick too. Saved a bunch when renting in Europe if you don't need an automatic. Still two other manuals left in the family.

Mark

Just Americans in the USA or all Americans? Most of the people I've met in the rest of the Americas drive manual. But can't have a manual when USA drivers need to be scarfing burgers and guzzling sugar-laden fizzy water, while yammering on their phones and/or texting.
FWIW, the Subaru diesel was a total flop, broken cranks and other issues. Very typical for the brand.

It's a high-clearance DIY weld-together rear bumper kit (with spare wheel swing-out option) for the T1N Sprinter. Available from coastal offroad which are located in BC, Canada. I had it shipped to me here in the US. It arrives as CNC cut plates which you then tack together and weld.

I carry my motorcycle on the back (for off-roading that even 4x4s can't touch :) so I especially liked the way it mounts to the sprinter's unibody using the 16 factory mounting points. I also wanted to use my spare tyre cage to house the grey water tank.

Hope this helps.

I grew up with dirt bikes so learning to drive in my Dad’s ‘52 Ford 3-speed column shift, still in the family) was easy. Since I got my license 40+ years ago I’ve owned three cars, a micro bus, a pickup, and now the Sprinter. I’m on my second 240D still have the diesel pickup too. All stick, mostly German diesels… the Sprinter is the first automatic I’ve ever owned and I select shift as if it weren’t but I’m not sure if that’s good or bad thing. Probably wear out the shift selector before the transmission.
Kids… one doesn’t know what a transmission is much less a clutch. I offered him my 240D and he says, “I’ll think about it.” Can you imagine?! My youngest will learn on a stick and he loves my 240D but neither are mechanically inclined. I’m ok with that though as they are both geniuses and will hopefully be able to afford someone else to maintain their ride. I’ll be happy for both if they don’t need to wash their hands before using the toilet like their old man.

Can you move the metal piece 9018880173 from an old plastic grill to a new one? How is it attached? The plastic grill is busted in a couple places and I got a new one, but the metal piece is fine and already painted to match.

Nice work. The front end design on the T1N still looks good - the lines of the headlight shapes / the slight wrap around into the wings / the bonnet and grille etc.

My old T1N was built in 1999, so originally had the Type 1 front grille in your post above. The grille surround design changed to the painted perimeter version I think in 2003 - from memory - along with clear lens front headlights and a slightly revised in appearance rear lamp cluster. I retrofitted all that at the time, for a "facelift nose job". Pretty sure the bonnet vent changed as well, although I just kept the original.

Still have a green painted front grille trim on the inside of the garage door, plus another one that was polished and chromed one as per pic. It contrasted well with the dark body colour. Used to swap them around, surprising to think my spare one is twenty years old now.

Another one... stopped off for a break in south eastern France, somewhere in one of the national parks in between Monaco and Lyon.

How do I go from the freight liner grill to the Mercedez one? Since one has a circle and my freight one is just flat?

thanks!

That is a picture of a newer model Sprinter and it is aliexpress, so my answer is going to be no. If you buy them be prepared to eat them as shipping back will cost more than they cost, and they will be cheap plastic that no one will buy from you.

The OEM hub covers for the T1n is just a round little center cap. If you want something that comes out to the lugs, you need Dodge or Freightliner.
Drill out the center and insert the center cap.
