2022 Rear AC Discharge Issue

I have a 2022 3500 170" Ext with a factory rear AC. I had planned to have the Rear AC Drained so we could replace it with a 12v Unit, but when we brought it in to have the rear system discharged, we were told that unlike previous model years, the front and rear systems were not separate and the only want to drain the rear was to drain the front AC. I'm not sure if I am dealing with an inept tech, or if there truly has been a change for the MY22 or what. For obvious reason, I do not want to risk losing the front AC.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Hi, please post your build sheet, VIN, or at least all the option codes for the A/C options in your van.

Thanks, you have
H08 - Air conditioning rear, roof mounted
Which is the basic rear A/C option, and does appear to share the cab A/C compressor.

(The upgrade option,
HK4 - Air conditioning rear, heavy duty
has a second, dedicated compressor.)

Regardless, a competent A/C shop should be able to cap off the rear plumbing and refill the system with the appropriate level of refrigerant.
Try Thermo King if you don't already have a shop in mind.
