What Did You Do To Your Sprinter Today?

Just dropped off the van to get the ceramic tint installed. Tried the other week, but they didn’t actually have the correct tint (XPEL XR Plus), so they had to order it in. Funny enough, they didn’t seem to know it existed, or the differences in the line, despite being an XPEL dealer.

The owner was there this morning and thanked me for pointing it out, and said they’re only going to carry that version of ceramic now.

I havent done anythjng to my sprinter yet today, since it is at the dealer for its 40k service.

It is ready, but i find myself confused. I have factory vent fan option H72, and it leaks from the hole the power wire goes through.. I asked for them to look at that, but that if it wasnt ELW covered, I didnt want to spend much getting it fixed since i do intend to eventually cut out that entire section of roof and install a Fantastic or similar.

Anyway, the service report declared the fan aftermarket, which a check of the build sheet or the dashboard (which has a factory switch to control it) would show to be false. I then figured out that what likely happened was they were confounded either by the metal pie tin that is magnetically attached to the roof to catch the leaking water and dampen wind noise, by the presence of a factory headliner (with cutout) that I installed used after market (which you cant get factory if you order that fan), or both.

I gotta find a company that’ll install a vent fan in my area. If you think me with a impact wrench is funny, wait until you see me with a sawzall.

Today we put 450 miles on our T1N, after buying it in December and building it out for the past 5 months for a 2,000 mile trip to Banff NP for a wedding.

I've been commuting in it for a couple weeks to help shake it down mechanically. It's been flawless.

Yesterday, 50 miles in and popped an intercooler hose. Roadside repair and found the t-bolt clamp was too big to fully seat. Luckily there was a MB dealership 20 miles away. Drafted a 5th wheel camper up I-5 to maintain speed, and bought new MB clamps. Installed in the target parking lot and away we go.

No issues in WA state, crossed the border into Canada. Stopped at Costco for a few things and while iding in the parking lot, an AC line blew in a dramatic spray of pressure from under the hood.

Turned off the AC and continued a bit more to camp for the night. Luckily it's getting colder the rest of the trip.

Averaged 21.6 mpg yesterday, not bad.

Jasper NP tonight!

...or climbing up an old, rickety, termite-infested wooden extension ladder to get on the roof!

Having the experience of making *two* holes in our Sprinter's roof now, I strongly recommend getting Hein's custom roof adapter and brace kit for whichever ceiling bay you plan to install your new fan in. It will make the job a lot more painless for whoever makes the cut. Also, as the unhappy owner of a Maxx Fan Deluxe, I would suggest giving a serious look at the DIYvan.com alternative to the Maxx Fan.....

This and invaluable. On it's face, the pieces seem overpriced but in practice, well worth the price of admission.

Depending on finding someone willing to do it, my preference was buying one from Hein. I like doing business with the good people, and he's one of them for sure. It has to be the bay that the factory fan is installed in, obviously...

Finally got my sky light ;) project complete, except for cutting the foam insulation and gluing it back up. The directions said that it should take 1-2 hours to install, so I'm pretty proud of my shaky hands self for getting it done in only 4 days with lots of help from my DW.

Of course, I should point out that I single-handedly ended the southeast's heat wave and drought as soon as the tools came out. Last night's low was 51 F, and it only went up into the mid-70's F for a high this afternoon. Long story short, I can't tell you how well it is going to work on a warm day, but it's working 10x than the EcoFlow portable right now.

Not at all. The Turbro and Pioneer inverter RV heat pumps come with a three color ambience lighting feature. Shown above is their approximation of white. It also has a dark blue, and what they call yellow that's really closer to bright green. There's no red LEDs in the strips they used, and no way to tweak the colors from what they are set for. My DW says that the "white" LED color makes her feel like she's in a bug zapper!

I laughed at this feature as a gimmick, but actually used it last night from bed in the middle of the night because the AC remote was closer to the bed than the light switch....

That is absolutely absurd. The mind boggles.
