Yes, Steve Ball is Mercedes Gen-In.

IIRC he runs/works in a garage in Stoke on Trent specialising in anything MB. And pretty sure he used to be a member here???

Also for starting, both the cam sensor and the crank sensor have to work. I cannot remember the troubleshooting clues... There are quite a few threads on this forum if you search for cam sensor and crank sensor. An overheat can cause the cam sensor to fail.

Wouldn’t it still crank even if faulty?

Even if both the cam and crank sensors were faulty, it would still crank via the starter motor.
(it has to ... since it's then watching for when the cam and crank identify cylinder #1 as reaching top dead center)
Within three cranks (or less) it would be able to tell that the sensors were not working, but it wouldn't cease the cranking.
(at least in a T1N ... the VS30 may well cease)

Yes! to everything in that thread. Good wires, connections, grounds.... everything in that thread! Including a fully charged, good battery. Low voltage battery can damage the (SCREEM?) module. No green cables! Nasty gunk on terminals may indicate a sulfated battery.

Apparently you missed the latest thread that was started.

It can be a challenge to keep up.
