Side mirror turn signal bulb size?

In an effort to keep a personal trend going and switching all the vehicle bulbs to LEDs, I have been looking online to find what bulb the mirrors take for their turn signal function.

I finally found one video on YouTube, but that too did not list the bulb type.

I know I could just go out and take the mirror sections off and remove it myself, but figured if someone knew what the bulb type was I could just order it and do the replacement in one motion, and it would be here for others to search/find in the future.

It seems there are at least two different bulbs and their couplings being used, one a round bulb (000820127764) that apparently was the bulb also used in the 2010-2018 Sprinters and the other a smaller, more oblong bulb (910906560064). As far as I know, the only way to confirm which bulb your specific VS30 Sprinter uses is to supply the VIN number to MB Parts for them to check, although I think you may be able to tell by looking at the mirror assembly and seeing whether you have a round or an oblong bulb in it. I suspect the whole mirror assemblies themselves may be entirely different parts.

I just got some 2018 and older bulb sockets in the mail yesterday. When I get back home, I'll let you know. The bulb on our 2019 isn't replaceable seperately from "socket", but the older ones use a 921 bulb but what looks to be the same electrical connector, so I will try it with a 921LED I got and report back to you.

When I was searching for a replacement mirror turn signal bulb for my 2014 NCV3 a few years ago, the only place where I could find one was at the dealership...for over $34. There was no common bulb that was compatible.

I was just checking SPAmazon to see if there were any new bulb listings, these replacement smoked lens LED sequential mirror signal lights came up that may be worth checking out for NCV3 and early VS30's:

My mirror lens is WAY different than that one.


It's turned sideways in the photo.

The 906 lenses and 907 "wide" mirrors are the same. The "narrow" 907 mirrors use a different lens, it's much flatter.

The old bulbs are weird, like they're glued into the connector. When you replace the mirror assembly it doesn't even come with that side of the connector, just blank metal ends.

I had 30 minutes at home and checked the bulbs/sockets, and the ones I got DO have a removable 921 bulb, so when I get back, I'll swap the LEDs I have and swap everything over and report back!

100% success! Sockets are a bit different, but the older, o-ring style fit in place of the newer style AND turned to lock in place. I had the included lenses as backup, but didn't need to change them out. 20250904_115452.jpg20250904_115258.jpg

Ok, well, 75% success.......my wife said they drove to town yesterday with the van and the display is mad at the LEDs I put in, so I ordered some "canbus" LEDs to swap out, so it quits thinking the bulb is burned out. I'll report back. 🙄🙄

You probably just need to add a resistor in parallel with the LED to fool the Sprinter it has a incandescent installed. I think you'll need a 16W resistor but I'm unsure on the ohms. Trying to find out this info myself. If you are able to measure the resistance of the the round orange bulb at the bottom of your photo using a multimeter I'd be interested in knowing the measured value.

These work perfectly. I just went out and swapped them. Started up the van, and no error message.

I tossed the oem lights last week, so I'm sorry, but I can't measure the others. I think, in 2025, there are enough LED bulbs out there that you shouldn't need resistors any more.

So, silly question. If I add an LED and a resistor, wouldn't that negate the economy benefit of switching to LED?

So that the only effect of switching would be blinding oncoming traffic?

How does a turn signal bulb in a mirror blind oncoming traffic? The primary benefit is that an LED cycles on/off quicker than a glowing filament. The other huge benefit is a nearly lifetime bulb life, which I have a $34 receipt from the local dealer's parts department to show doesn't apply to the factory incandescent mirror turn signal bulb.....

Other than the LED bulb probably lasting longer, there wouldn't be any other benefits, apart from meeting @Green Maned Lion and singing 70s hits on the side of the road.

I'm not 100% sure I'd consider blinding oncoming traffic with my mirror blinker bulb a "benefit", just something I like to do.

Also warm the globe and add to "climate change" with a car light bulb. Not a BENEFIT, just something I like to do.

LEDs are inherently blinding because of the way they 'diffuse' light, or rather don't.
