Underbody Protection

Went over some rough gravel roads recently in our Sprinter and had a look underneath the engine to confirm that all was well, noticed 2 tubes about 1cm diam.(1/2 inch) about 1/2m long behind the torsion bar and parallel to it and slightly lower. Can see some slight stone chips on these 2 tubes. What are they and how significant if they get broken or crushed by a rock.

They could well be air con, but they are not insulated. Was thinking of putting some of that ribbed plastic split tubing over them that is used to protect electrical cabling.

There You go side-slit expandable wiring or plumbing protection outer casing, the advantage is one does not have to disassemble anything. just slips on, spray with cavity wax to waterproof if required.
