No wonder the floats fall off. The sensor stem has no grove to hold whatever retainer is used. Just held on with tension.
Donor float from sensor purchased for less that $16
Local hardware store didn't have a stainless push nut so I went with a stainless e-clip.
I did cut a slight groove in the stem to capture the e-clip, being careful not to pierce the tube.
After slipping on the e-clip, I slathered with epoxy to hopefully anchor.
The full tank indicator now works for the first time since I owned the Westy!
