2018 6 cyl has jerky acceleration

Need help with this since dealer can't fine the issue. I have a 2018 2500 3.0 cyl that "misses" when I lightly accelerate. If this were a gas engine it acts like a backfire. It stalls and then kicks back in. It's especially bad at 20-30 mph but also does it when I'm at highway speeds and lightly accelerate. It got so bad that last week I decided to drive it really hard and floored the pedal every time I could. It never does it with hard acceleration. It runs as it's supposed to and smoothly shifts all the way up whatever speed I want. The funny thing is that after driving it hard for several days, it seemed to clear up the issue a lot. Now that I'm back to softer acceleration, it's worse. Any ideas would be gratefully appreciated!

It could be a clogged EGR or Catalytic convertor, is there black smoke when you accelerate or thick black film on end of tailpipe?
A scanguage or similar real time display of engine sensors might lead to another possible cause, like an over fueling injector etc.
Bringing it to an independent Sprinter specialist mechanic might help.

Wherever you go, there you are.
My complaint to the dealer for a similar sounding issue on my 2017 with 38k miles resulted in a quick suggestion that it was a well-known problem that requires EGR valve replacement. Unfortunately the replacement EGR valves aren't available until sometime late fall. Some people on the forum seem to have had some success in cleaning the EGR valve to mitigate the problem. Some people have reported that their dealer nixed the idea of cleaning saying that only approved correction was replacement.
