Conestoga Trail

'02 140 Hi BlueBlk Pass
Last weekend we were hiking the Conestoga Trail.

The rain and fallen leaves made climbing the schist trails slippery and slow, as did occasional horizontal moving rain amid tornado warnings. As a result, we arrived at the campground in the dark. As it was raining, we needed to set up a rain fly to cook and eat under, but the campground lacked convenient trees, and we did not have poles. So we ran the Sprinter up to the fire and picnic table and rigged the rain fly off the van, running the fly's strings over the doors and roof for one side, and using long branches counter weighted in the opposite direction (one is visible under the Scout in gray seated at the table on the left). The picture of the black fly and blue-black van in the night and in the rain is hard to see, but the ripples in the fly are visible in the upper left of the picture.

After a dinner of hot dogs (Scouts) and foil meals (adults), the Scouts had a night game of Manhunt in the puddles and mud - and had a great time.

Beautiful hiking, I’ll bet. Glad you’re out there, enjoying.
Not much leaf colours yet over there. We’re getting towards peak colour now.
What’s that long white structure in the last pix?

I had no idea that was a highway bridge. Looks way too delicate.

Like your shoulder, er, elbow...which looks similarly delicate. There's gotta be a story there somewhere.
Hope the boys in the Bimmer from Texas weren't responsible. :hmmm:
